Reminiscent of Tiffany stained glass, Utah tiffany stone is known for its crackled marbling of creamy white, rich purple, smoky lavender, and inky black. This gemstone's rare and beautiful colors make it one of the most desired stones among gem collectors all over the world.
Mined in the state of Utah, USA, tiffany stone is found in mineralized nodules. It is a composite of dolomite, beryllium, opalized fluorite, manganese, quartz and chalcedony. Originally mined for its content of beryllium, the remaining stone was soon adopted by lapidarists because of its superb polishing aspects. Until recently, the only material available has been through old collections or what people have retrieved illegally. A recent discovery of several new outcroppings has been claimed and is now available on the gemstone market. It is important to note that the mine where Utah Tiffany Stone is mined is now closed to the public, making this stone all the more rare and only available for a limited time.
LOCATION: Utah
This stone comes only from a very small area in the Western deserts of Utah, at the Brush Wellman beryllium mine in the Topaz-Spor Mountains of Juab County's Sevier Desert. This mine is closed to the public, and we have negotiated with the mine owners to bring you this extremely limited gem.
